Organizational
- One Owner Team: The concepts of "team alignment" and the "One-Owner team" are essentially concepts of organizational management, efficiency and communication. Many of the principles are drawn from business philosophies (like Total Quality Management) and dispute resolution ideas (e.g., Alternatives Analysis, Mediation). The underlying goal of alignment is to ensure relevant expertise is brought to the table to solve problems and plan projects.
- Project Level Thinking: Alignment implementation drives participants to Third Level Thinking, or Project First Thinking. The object of Project First Thinking is to find ways to focus people on what is best for the project.
- Personal/Professional Thinking: (Level One Thinking) Personal thinking, or "Level One Thinking," is all about personal safety: actual safety and career safety. It's important that one feel safe in a work environment in order to create the opportunity for that person to excel, contribute and be proud of his or her participation in a successful project. The personal and professional needs of participants in any project have to be recognized and understood. Only in a productive, safe, Level One working environment can a person move up to and work at Level Two.
- Organizational Thinking: (Level Two Thinking) Level Two thinking focuses on team and business outcomes, and organizational successes. Attaining business goals contributes to the agency's health, growth and longevity. Level Two thinking is the fundamental bridge between the individual and his or her employer. Within organizations, Level Two thinking starts with the department in which the person performs services and includes relationships with one's closest colleagues. Each professional looks out for the interests of his/her department, which creates loyalty to that department and to the department's work. In contract situations, Level Two thinking secures loyalty to the organization and fosters protection of the organization's interests.
- Project First Thinking: (Level Three Thinking) Once a person feels personally safe and feels part of a Level Two team, he or she can begin focusing on the best interests of a given project. Within an organization, this level of cooperation requires integrating the interests of the diverse team members and departments to achieve the same outcome-project success. Getting that cooperation before the project begins and maintaining it as the project is built are essential to the success of the project. Moreover, that cooperation ensures that the organization speaks with one voice as an owner in dealing with the public, contractors and vendors.
- Alignment strategy requires that any team decision (especially one that is the result of an issue resolution process) satisfies all three levels of focus. A decision with a consistent focus on all three levels produces the best decisions, solutions and outcomes.
- Organization Alignment: Using the strategies developed in the One Owner Team concept, TRG assists your company in re-aligning its goals, perspectives and departments to maximize teamwork and Project First Thinking. All organizational alignment is custom developed to your company's needs, and involves design, training, implementation, monitoring and regular progress analysis and feedback.
