Brian Watkinson

Brian WatkinsonBrian Watkinson is an Associate with The Realignment Group and Principal of Strategies 4 Impact!, a professional service firm in Ontario, Canada that provides valued strategic advice and support to businesses in the design and construction sector, their clients and their associations.

Brian is leading the Realignment Group's effort to help Canadian public and private owners, contractors, designers and trade partners understand and implement lean design and construction principles, including assisting in the coaching and development of robust Integrated Project Delivery teams.

Brian is an architect who led a very successful 20 person practice in Niagara Falls, Ontario in the 1980's. In 1991 he accepted an invitation to join the staff of the Ontario Association of Architects and in 1995 was named its Executive Director. In that role he advised the governing Council and was responsible for building strategic relationships with other industry organizations and government relations. He left the association in 2006 to launch Strategies 4 Impact!

Brian invests much of his time tracking the trends that are transforming the construction industry and advising clients in the design and construction sector on how they can profit from those trends. Things like new delivery models such as public-private partnerships and Lean Integrated Project Delivery; the impact of government policy on the industry; shifts in population demographics; Building Information Modeling; and, of course, climate change and sustainable design.

Dianne Davis

Dianne Davis is an Associate with The ReAlignment Group and is a Principal of AEC Infosystems, an award winning BIM consulting firm with 25 years of BIM development and innovation experience. Ms. Davis supports owners and service providers by facilitating BIM, Lean, and IPD to maximize client value, project efficiencies, and BIM use across the facility lifecycle.

  • BIM - is the integrated technological environment for working collaboratively
  • Lean - provides a methodology and processes for communicating collaboratively
  • IPD - is a contractual structure for teaming collaboratively

BIM is a collective term for technology changes in the AECO industry. Ms Davis utilizes Lean to structure process, people and technology changes allowing owners to modify their policies and standards, adapt IPD to organizational realities, and help all stakeholders to "think lean".  Her work for the Veteran's Administration BIM Guide has been internationally recognized by Australia as a basis of their BIM standards NATSpec, Singapore, and the UK.

Ms. Davis had 15 years of experience in design and design-build firms before moving to AEC Infosystems to focus on BIM process change.  She is Co-Chair of CSI Omniclass development, a board member of the Building Smart Alliance, a member on the AGC LOD committee, and a technical chair for the National BIM Standards supporting BIM processes and data standards development.

Some of her clients have included: the US Coast Guard, Army Research Lab, The Smithsonian Institution, NIST, the Architect of the Capitol, the National Institute of Building Sciences, Marriott Corporation, Massachusetts Port Authority, DCAMM and numerous service providers.

Mike Osterling

mike osterlingMike Osterling is an Associate with The Realignment Group and is a Principal of Osterling Consulting, Inc. a firm that specializes in Lean Operations implementation, training and coaching for organizations pursuing aggressive process improvements.  Mike has broad experience applying the lean philosophy in project, build-to-order and office environments.  He has created and delivered extensive in-house training and development programs for companies such as Rudolph & Sletten, Chevron, Schlumberger, Tyco and TaylorMade Golf.  Other clients include Southland Industries, Austin Industries, United Rock / Sully Miller, General Dynamics, GKN and Buck Knives.

A Lean Management leader in the San Diego region since the mid-90's, Mr. Osterling was instrumental in the development of the Lean Enterprise Certificate Program at San Diego State University in 1999; he continues to teach in that program as well as at UCSD. He is a regular speaker and workshop facilitator for associations such as the Lean Construction Institute, AME, ASQ, Tech America, APICS and IIE. Mike worked for Square D Company / Schneider Electric for 18 years in a variety of leadership roles including Lean Systems Manager (West Coast operations), manufacturing manager, materials management and operations leader in circuit breaker and transformer manufacturing facilities.mike osterling

Tariq Abdelhamid

tariq abdelhamidTariq is an Associate with the Realignment Group and is currently an Associate Professor of Lean Construction at Michigan State University, where he teaches and conducts research on Lean Construction at the School of Planning, Design and Construction, and routinely publishes on Lean Construction and Lean Production topics.  Prior to that, he worked as a Lean Production subject matter expert for Ford Motor Company.  He also worked as a Scheduler/Planner for PAC Project Advisors, and an Engineer III for the University of Michigan Construction Engineering and Management Office.  He was a Primary Site Engineer and Site Engineer for Seif Rehabilitation Works Contractors (Alexandria, Egypt).  Tariq earned a PhD in Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering and Management, and two master’s degrees in Industrial and Operations Engineering and Construction Engineering and Management from the University of Michigan.  He received a bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering for Alexandria University, Egypt.

Trained in Lean Production at Ford Motor Company, and in Lean Construction by Greg Howell and Glenn Ballard (founders of the Lean Construction Institute, USA), Tariq joins the ReAlignment Group on engagements with design and construction teams on projects of any budget size. He brings deep knowledge and scholarship in lean production and construction and strong expertise in supporting client teams in Lean Construction transformation journeys, and coaching teams on Lean Project Delivery  using relational contracts such as IFOA, AIA IPD, and ConsensusDOCS.  Tariq also advises and mentors Enovio Consulting on lean production and construction engagements.  Tariq is also involved as a content developer and subject matter expert in the Associated General Contractors of America ongoing effort to develop a comprehensive Lean Construction Education Program.tariq abdelhamid

Wayne Moloznik

Wayne Moloznik is a Principal and Senior Facilitator with The Realignment Group, joining The ReAlignment Group consulting team in the fall of 2011 after 40 years building major projects around the US and the world. Wayne heads up the Denver, Colorado office and will train and coach Lean Design and Construction, facilitating, training and coaching owners, designers and builders in lean principles, tools and techniques including Last Planner® System (pull planning), Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping and Alignment Partnering.

Most recently a Clark Construction Vice President, retired in the summer of 2011.  Wayne is a veteran of the US Army serving in Viet Nam in 1970-71. Beginning construction in 1971, Wayne cut his teeth in residential and commercial in the Chicago area and around the US Midwest. He worked as Ironworker General Superintendent of the $2 Billion Byron Nuclear Power Plant in Byron Illinois, then moved east - 'way east - as a Building Superintendent of the $2 Billion King Saud University in Saudi Arabia.  Over the years Wayne accumulated experience with Federal prison, airport terminals and army hospital projects, and as Construction Executive for Clark at the Seattle-Tacoma Airport Expansion, LAC+USC Medical Center expansion Project, and pre-construction executive at the California Healthcare Receivership Program and the Highland Hospital in Oakland
